A Tip Of The Hat To Good Fashion Sense

When I was little, I never really had much use for wearing hats, but as I got older those feelings have changed a bit.  I spend a lot of time outdoors these days, especially in the summer months when I like to spend as much time on my sailboat as possible.  That usually means a lot of time in some pretty hot weather.  I never used to wear hats much as a kid, because I take a very large hat size, and always had a hard time finding one that fit me very well.  My younger brother had a thing for hats though.  They were kind of a cross between a fashion statement and a security blanket for him.  You didn’t want to mess with him by stealing his hat, which is something that little kids always seem to like to do.

Now a days, I have a variety of different hats I’ll wear, whether I’m out at the boat sailing, or going for walks, or playing a few rounds of golf.   A nice straw fedora, is always a good choice for a distinguished gentleman like myself.  Straw hats are nice, because they still let plenty of air circulate on hot days, and it helps keep you cool.  The majority of heat loss in the body, is through the head, and on hot days, you don’t want to prevent that anymore then necessary.  A straw made hat is perfect for this, as it blocks the harmful rays of the sun, and lets you stay cool with good ventilation at the same time.  Do I mention, that you can look good in a straw hat as well?

Now ladies don’t worry, as the have straw hats for women as well.  Heaven forbid we neglect the more fashionable side  of our species when it comes to sensible hats.  And, I think ladies look good in hats as well.  At least my opinion, they look even better than most men do.  But, that’s a general rule of thumb I apply to just about anything women wear anyway.  So, whatever you do, and where ever your going, be sure to grab your hat as your heading out the door.  You’ll not only look good, but you’ll be taking better care of your health.
