I read a few years ago, that when Tom Cruise wore those aviator sunglasses in the movie Top Gun, that he basically rejuvenated a market that had been dormant for years.  While were all well aware of the impact celebrities have on fashion, for years glasses were not really considered a fashion item.  Well, maybe sunglasses where but certainly not prescription glasses.  Well, things have changed, and that’s not necessarily the case anymore.  With the onslaught of designer frames these days, I’ve even heard of some celebrities (and regular folk) wearing glasses just because they look cool.

Well, hey that’s alright with me.  I’ve worn glasses for years, and always thought they were kind of a cool accessory.  I never understood why all the attention was focused on contact lenses for years.  I mean, to me sticking things in your eyes just seemed like a bad idea to begin with.  Plus, who’s ever heard of designer frames for contact lenses.  Sure, I guess you can get colored contact lenses to change your eyes, but that’s not really a fashion thing in my mind.  I like the idea of wearing eyeglasses anyway.  You can always act cool as you take them off and put them on to.  That’s not the kind of move you’d want to try with contacts at a club.
